Sembrando Salud/Sowing Wellness Program
Sembrando Salud/Sowing Wellness Program, funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, addresses a need for activities for adults in Elfrida and surrounding areas.
Area residents over the age of 60 are encouraged to participate. Project activities include an organic community garden, exercise classes, including Yoga; Spanish classes and a Spanish/English tutoring group. May through November on Fridays from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, join this active group for the Elfrida Farmer's Market, located next to the clinic.
Marybeth Webster, , a registered art therapist, also facilitates a Diabetic support group called the "Diabetic Lunch Bunch", "Stress Management", “Art Class” and a "Creative Writing" group.
Because we all want to keep our minds sharp as we get older, the project strives to reduce the risk of developing dementia by engaging participants socially, and participating in intellectually stimulating activities and physical exercise.
