Dr. Karra

Dr. Karra was born in India and immigrated, with his parents and sister, to New Jersey at the age of 13. He attended high school and college in New Jersey. He was awarded Highest Honors for his Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering and received his MD degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

He then chose to come to University of AZ for his Family Practice residency, which he completed in 2001. He was awarded the Faculty Teaching and Community Service Award and voted Outstanding Resident Teacher by his peers. He also received his Board Certification in 2001 in Family Medicine.

After residency he worked in Africa for Doctors Without Borders, the Indian Health Services in New Mexico, and at El Rio and El Pueblo Community Health Centers in Tucson.

In his free time, Dr. Karra enjoys backpacking, camping and photography; he is married to Julie Karra, our Sembrando Salud/Sowing Wellness Coordinator.
